Thanks again to Skyview. A guy has to know the inside story to appreciate the name. Black. Very heavily roasted. Some soy sauce, which is good. Thick and heavy on the palate. Maybe too much roasted malt and grain. Still, thick, smooth palate, if one dimensional.

Bottle shared by Illinismitty. Thanks! Pours opaque black with a lasting tan head. Chocolate and espresso aroma. Rich and smooth, sweet, but with enough roast malt bitterness to balance. Full bodied, coating. Very well done.

yeah haaaa .... thanks to SanTa FUN for this one ... Bottle at home with TimE... deep black ... medium size brown foam head ... big rich toffe and roast malt nose ... big bold roast malt ... quite a bit of coffee but too much hop for me ...a bit yeti in that respect ... little licorice ... little treacle ... nice but the hops too much for me.

Bottle with many thanks to tpd975. Pours a thick dark brown with a massive head that slowly rises up and threatens to spill down the side of the glass. Quite a bit of hops and anise hit the nose and mix with pepper, cedar and chocolate. Flavor is fantastic as well. I really am thinking seriously about moving to Florida just to be closer to CC at this point, because the mix of cocoa and cedar is divine.

Bottle courtesy of Immy on 07/18/2009. Dark black body with a medium creamy brown head. Huge roast, chocolate and hop aroma. Big roast, chocolate, molassas, and huge hop flavor with lots of bitterness. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Multiple samples thanks to JohnC and seaoflament. Pours with a very brown head and a black body. Great lacing. Aroma of nail polish, chocolate, cinnamon, fusel alcohol, and some hops. Taste is chocolate, dirt, soil, dry (low residual sugars), herbal , bitter, and light, spicy wood notes. Creamy mouthfeel and carbonation.

This is dark, could be the darkest stout I’ve found yet. Not just opaque black in the glass but the stream pouring from the bottle is nearly opaque, just hints at reddish brown, otherwise barely passes any light! Large foamy head, dark brown in color. Aroma is full of roast and burnt chocolate, maybe there’s a raisin or other dark fruitiness in the background. The flavor is equally roasty, with hints of a resinous wood and burnt coffee. After the first swallow, the resinous wood starts up in the nose and now seems very apparent. Drier than expected, though full bodied without a doubt. Hops are there if you concentrate, kinda spicy, lending a long bitter finish. Alcohol is not obvious, amazingly.

Many thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing this at Peter’s NY gathering - this beer is seriously intense - so much so, that I’m glad I only got a couple of ounces of it - any more may have killed me - this beer is so bad-ass, it makes Chuck Norris cry - it’s so bad ass, that I am going to spend my entire rating saying almost nothing about the beer at all, except this: I was surprised at how the cedar was able to add an interesting and tasty dimension to the beer - why haven’t other brewers tried this? - anyway, back to the utterly useless comments - this beer is so bad ass, it made me ultra-virile for several minutes, and I impregnated several woman just by looking at them - it’s so bad ass, it makes that dude in Tennessee with 21 kids look like a homosexual in comparison - your mama’s so fat, when she gets on the scale, it says, "to be continuned" - wait...I seem to have gotten off topic...that’s how bad ass this beer is!
