Sampled from the bottle at the 2010 February Circle City Tasting. Poured a clear reddish amber with a light brown head. Aroma was full of vinous, acidic fruits with notes of sour grape and tart berries. Flavor was quite sour with vinous and acidic notes and underlying sour fruits.

Bottled, batch 159, 7.5 % ABV:
Pours deep, reddish brown with a small pillow-y head. Sourish aroma of ripe winter apples. The earthy, sourish flavour has notes of ripe apples, sour cherries and oak barrels. Delicious!

50 cL bottle, batch #159, 2008 vintage. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is acetone and dark fruity. Dark fruity flavoured. Acetone, brett and acidic to a solid dark malty and overripe fruity note. Mild acidic and dark malty finish. A bit too acetone driven for my liking.

Dark brown color; creamy head; high carbonation. The aroma is sour, woody, and with some caramel; dusty. Good body strength, good caramel flavor, light residual sweetness and light fruity touch; it has a medium level of acidity, but mostly acetone; vinous oak. Itβs a difficult beer, quite aggressive, and not very stylish. I can expect people liking it just because itβs sour, but...

Bottle. Not my cup of beer, although I like sour ales. The flavor is too acidy without being anything else really. I donβt like the strange aftertaste either.

Bottle. Pours dark mahogny. Aroma like an ordinary flemish sour ale. Taste is way to sour and acidic to be enjoyable, poured most of it in the zink.

Bottled. Cloudy mahogany colour, small head. Acidic vinegar aroma. Tart with emdium body and rounde mouthfeel. Woodyand vinegary with sweaty bold malt. No bitterness. A very direct and appetizing aroma and flavour, but not in possession of too much depth beyond that.

Bottle, vintage 2008. Dark brown liquid, the brownish foam was not large and went down quickly. The aroma was interesting, the sour notes were there, as well as scents of oak, black currant, licorice and vinegar. Interesting and different. The taste was also interesting but not only interesting but also good. Besides the souerness, licorice was the first thing I reacted to. Vinegar, dark berries, raisins and oak. Wonder if I also noted a slight, slight smokiness, yes I think so. The body was medium and the fluid rather dry. Different and fun beer from Norway. Balanced and the alcohol (7.5%) felt not at all.

Bottle Pours out a brown with some red highs topped with a cream head. Aroma was of pit fruit, vinegar, and some oak. Taste was more of the pitfruits some berry and the tart vinegar. A pretty damb tast brew.

Deep reddish brown coloured body with a nice thin (one centimetre) tan head that leaves a nice lace on the glass before fading completely. Aroma of super tart cherries, grapes, vinegar, citric acid and a dose of basement funk and lightly malty. Light to Medium-bodied; Super tart and citric flavours of cherries up front fades to a very bitter acidic vinegar and tart finish with a slight bit of sweetness. Aftertaste shows metal and a very strong bitterness, but the tart cherries and concord grapes still are coming through, leaving the mouth tart. Very dry and tart at the finish - I wish most beers could have these qualities! Overall, a very nice flemish sour, definitely worth trying if you like the style, but only missing perhaps a few small characteristics they could pick up from Cantillon. Still, a great beer - very nice from the Norwegians. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida on 15-February-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 28-September-2009.
