Bottle at Mark’s Sour Tasting on 06/16/2010. Hazy red body with a small white head. Big sour and oak aroma with some anise. Big oak flavor with a bit of fruit and a huge tart finish. Medium full body with moderately high carbonation.

Batch 49. Brewed 10/10/06. The beer tastes strongly of oak and is very tart. The tartness is sour cherry with a vinous character. You can just really taste the oak barrel, and that oak makes things quite dry. The alcohol isn’t felt in the least behind the enormous tart flavor.

Thanks to gn0sis for this one! Bottle looks a bit complex, but good. Beer in the glass deep black, nice head. Starts sourish, quite fruity like plums and raisins, malty-moldy. Finish not as dominating sourish as the beginning, well balanced, warming-malty. Quite drinkable. Really nice beer!

Aged two years. Pours ruby-tinged mahogany into a Duvel tulip. Pours a huge head that fills to the top on a vigorous pour. Creamy micro head conglomerates as it very slowly recedes leaving no lacing. Sour cranberry, cherry and oak aromas. Tart, puckering dark cherry from front to back. Nice oak in the lasting slightly hot finish. This one is a winner.

(Bottle, batch 159 vintage 2008, 7.5%) Reddish brown colour, slightly hazy, with lasting, beige head. Intense acidic nose with vinegar, sour berries and some wood. Fruity, sour taste with notes of balsamic vinegar, raspberries, oak wood and hints of toasty malt hiding beneath an acidic veil. The sourness is not as aggressive as in the nose, however. More than medium body, rounded mouthfeel. Mainly dry and sour, not much evident bitterness. Alcohol well hidden beneath the vinegar. The Norwegians are entering Rodenbach territory and this is an excellent shot at the style, possibly lacking the complexity of the best versions. Very nice though!

Bottle courtesy of Greg at Churchkey (thank you sir!), shared at DC local tasting. Murky brown color, large bubble head that settles quickly. Aroma is sour mustard seed and mustard leaves. Taste has steady sourness throughout, with an edge of wood and caramel. Very nice.

dark brown, unclear, lots of white or yellow floaties that look like scales. head is small and yellow to light brown. aroma is acid citrussy sour, dark fruits, brown sugar. vineagra, the sourish part of cola nuts. wood. interesting and complex but also a bit messy and brutal sour aroma. flavor is extremely sour, acid, vineagra, dark fruits, brown sugar. This one will take some time to finish, the most sour beer i’ve had for months. I would recommend blending it with something else ;-). flavor is complex, the intensity is brutal.way too sour to give you any hint of alc. percentage. If You like something extremely acid and sour, try this one out.
