Brewed to 4.4% abv, Draught Bass is still brewed to an original recipe using only the finest ingredients and the experience of generations. It is brewed with two strains of yeast to produce a complex nutty, malty taste with subtle hop undertones, which has widespread appeal to repertoire drinkers.

Cask @ The Jolly Sailor, Macclesfield. A deeper golden ale with a thick creamy head. Has malty base but not too overbearing in this respect. Not much flavour.

Cask at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 17/04/13. Lightly hazed dark amber with a thin off white head. Nose is pale malt, light citrus, grass, fruits/ Taste follows, drinkable but on the bland side, grain, summer fruits, pale malt. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dryish finish with some bitterness. Ok average stuff.

Tap at Hub in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Amber colour with an off-white head. Sweet fruity malt aroma. A bit of fruit in the flavour and some bitterness.

(Cast at some roadside pub close to Stonehenge, October 2010) I haven’t had this beer for a long time - the previous time could have been in London in 2001. Bass Pale Ale is quite average bitter. Flavours and aromas contain toffee and malts. No suprises there. No flaws either. Ok but boring and too smooth.

On tap, pint. Clear amber color, small white head and low carbonation. Aroma of caramel malt, fruity hops and banana note. Taste starts with sweet caramel malt, followed by refreshing fruitiness and finished lightly bitter. Medium body, slick texture and almost flat carbonation in palate. Very drinkable, but still not much more than average...

1 Pint Cask on the ferry back home – thx. to Unn. Pours amber with an ultra-creamy head and near phenomenal lacing – chemical or just the cask thing doing its stuff? Smell is mellow sweet caramel, lots of biscuit, lightly floral, pale-ish yeast. Taste is equally vague, plenty of biscuit malt, floral, bitter herb, yeasty, very light natural metals & tad oily. Fuller biscuit mouth feel, lower carb. Not really offensive, certainly drinkable.

Handpull at Newcastle Town Football Club - absolutely nothing wrong with this, a bit bland, but so much better than so many others I’ve had this year. Nonetheless, I can’t think of much to add to an average beer. In a dessert you’ll drink anything, in this case it was a welcome drink.

In restaurant in London. Happy to find a beer I had not tried in a reataurant. A pretty decent beer. Nice golden colour, and a good head.

Red brown colour with thick creamy head. flavour has a little bit of woodiness, malt and the sulphuric edge quite typical to beers from the region.
