Farmhouse - Saison Special Out of Production
Score
7.77
ABV: 4.3% IBU: - Ticks: 69
First batch - 2008.
Second batch - August 2021.

Directly inspired by traditional saisons of the 19th century, beers meant to quench the thirsts of farm workers at harvest time, the Saison de la Senne is a beer of mixed fermentation. It is both bitter and aromatic thanks to particularly generous hopping, while at the same time developing a vinous and tangy character thanks to a blending with old lambic from the Cantillon brewery. Ripened in oak barrels for 9 months and listed at 4.3% abv.

March ‘23 bottling. 6%. Probably warrants a separate entry. Beautiful glowing orange gold with a sturdy glossy white foam. Looks mega. Nose has orange rind. Whiff of yer Anderlecht funk. Chipped wood. Sweet forced rhubarb. Taste is light tart and pretty dry with a firm funky bitterness. Lively and crisp with fine rolling carbonation. Dry tart bitter slightly puckering finish. Nice one.

bottled 2023 Super nice most leathery lambic aroma, the cantillon is definetly there, bit of sweeter malty spicy yeasty nuances from the saison. can't remember tasting a lambic/saison blend before. With the aroma, it works very well. Flavor is also pretty lambic like, only with some added faint sweeter malty notes, some yeast and some more bitterness. still lots of leather and sourness, very enjoyable and quaffable belgian sour.

Flaska.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled on 23.03.2023, at One Pint Pub, 20240712) The beer poured golden and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had floralness, tartness, wood and vinous notes. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were floralness, fruitiness, tartness, vinous notes, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was tart, spicy and bitter. A tasty and complex brew.
