Bottled. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted, some mild toast with mild nutty and some chocolaty tones. Flavour is chocolate, some mild roasted notes, mild toffee, toast and a bit wood as well.

On tap at Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal head. Roasted malts in the aroma, with hints of oats. Somewhat fruity in the mouth, with liquorice and aniseed. Traces of coffee and chocolate too. A tad watery though. Quite nice.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Nearly black. Thick, dense, lasting, tan head. Great looking beer. Nose has ripe blackberry. Tangy, roast coffee bean. Light malts. Notes of milky coffee. Taste has bitter roast malts. Nice tang of dark berry. Medium body. Touch too much fizz, maybe. Roast malt bitter finish. Looks fantastic, and is super tasty at the ABV.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden on 25th January 2015. Sepia-black with pale tan foam and chunky lacing. Rich and intense roasty aroma with coffee notes. Intense roastiness in-mouth with coffee flavours and spicy touch. Finish rather sweeter, with caramel roasty malts. Fair amount of body and an engaging texture. Well-crafted stout.

Cask in a shaker glass showing completely opaque black and a full body. The nose showed a lot of chocolate and roast malts. The palate was medium bodied with a lot roast malt flavor and a slight coffee-like tartness. The finish was a dark chocolate bitterness. Overall, a nice cask stout.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn crema head. There are some red chinks around the side of the glass. Nose - chocolate and generally roasty. Taste - more roast and dark chocolate. Dry malt slightly heading down the liquorice route. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry malty finish. Overall - yes enjoyable.

Black with this soapy, coffee coloured head. Some toasty, smokey elements in the aroma. Also some grassy hops. Flavour has a fair whack of bitter coffee and some cocoa too. Bitter and somewhat metallic aftertaste.

Cask at the Rake. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, charcoal, cocoa, cola coffee and treacle. The taste is bitter, rich roast, coffee, citrus peel, earth, treacle, charred wood, molasses, burnt brown sugar, with a lingering dry-bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty damn bitter, which almost pushes it into the bipa territory. Rather tasty stuff.
