03/12 0.25 l bottle from a Carrefour in Madrid. It poured slightly hazy deep red body with small white head. Cherry aroma, cherry, actually sour cherry flavor, juicy, pleasant and refreshing. Medium in body with long astringent cherry finish. A nice fruit beer, liked it even more than strawberry lambic, but again, not my style...

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours pink to red with a nice head. The nose is of cherry cough sweets and some dry cherry stone notes. The taste has cherry stone, going into marzipan and bakewell tart. The palate is medium bodied with a clean and fairly sour finish. Overall, a solid Kriek but would be better if it was more sour.

Bottle at the Semi-Final Tasting, London. Thanks to Paul. Pours clear, pink-red with a fine, white cream head. Big artificial cherry nose. Mega sweet flavor with lots of Jolly Rancheresque cherry flavor, some faint tartness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Very sweet on the finish with tons of cherry cough syrup character and very light cherry pit bitterness. It’s sweet stuff with a cheap, artificial edge to it. In an I-feel-kind-of-guilty-liking-this sort of way, I kind of like this.

0.25l bottle @ De Groote Witte Arend, Antwerp. This is a clear glowing raspberry-juice-red one with a big fluffy and lasting light pink head. It's damn sweet and pinkish on the aroma as well. Smells a bit like a sweetened cherry juice, and I even get hints of artificial raspberries (could be that open bottle of extreme framboise standing on the table). The flavor is not as extreme-sweet as I had expected. Actually somewhat tasty, but still it almost feels like drinking concentrated raspberry juice. In some God only knows-wonder this worked really nice with a tuna sandwich! 02.06.2012

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, red coloured hue with a fluffy and pink foamy head. Artificially and sugary cherry-fruity aroma with almost none Lambic character. Sweet and slightly sour-tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Sugary fruity taste with loads of artificial notes of cherries; sugary sweet and sticky finish. 23.VII.12

Bottle from Beers of Europe. It pours clear deep red, with a decent white head. The nose is artificial cherry, sticky syrup, spice and cherry tunes/jolly ranchers. The taste is sweet cherry, artificial, overbearing sweetness, white sugar and jolly ranchers. Medium body, fine carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Wow that is extreme....sweetness that is! It appears that no lambic was harmed in the making of this beverage.

Can in Brussels, March 2012. Clear red with a small pinkish head. Sweet aroma and taste with cherries, almond. Light tartness. Drinkable but not that interesting to be honest.

25 cl. bottle sampled @ De Groote Witte Arend: – A: clear, ruby cherry with a pink head – S: cherry juice, cherry grenadine, cherry jam & white sugar – T: white sugar, cherry jam & grenadine plus a very dull flavourless beer buried underneath it, grains, malts,…? hard to tell really – lambic according to RB which is just crazy but by this point I don’t think it really matters what the base beer was, it is not extremely sweet as others I have had but it is enough to bury the base beer completely, might have as well used water, calling this a fruit lambic is ridiculous, this is a fruit beer – B: medium, slightly sticky, slightly oily- obviously nowhere neer extreme enough to warrant the name Xtreme or the warning of the waiter that it was going to be extremely sweet although he did certainly have a point
