25 cl. draft @ Le Bier Circus - still curious if a Belgian brewery can make a good, pilsner - this is probably not it, slightly better than the general swill but still not all that awesome - golden, clear, reasonable whit head -smell is grains, light lager yeast, touch of hops - standard for ilk, grains upfront, light mellow, touch pale malts hint sweet, body is also lightly grainy, touch spice, light floral hops, touch yeast, light grass in the back.

Bottle at 4.9% from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light gold with a slight white head. Aroma of grassy and herbal hops. Med body. Flavor is lightly bready, and there’s a good dose of noble hop. It is crisp and clean. However, it needs just more grassy hop to put it up there with the top runners. Finishes fairly dry.

Draft. Amber beer with a big whitish head. Light honey and light grass aroma. Sweet malt flavor with light grass. Medium bodied. Sweet malt and light grass lingers.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA on 6/27/11. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized creamy white head. Lots of visible carbonation. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of pale malts and grassy hops. The taste is pretty much the same. Creamy mouthfeel, well balanced. Pretty nice beer.

Tap at Sunswick, during Belgian Beer Fest. I’m surprised this beer doesn’t get more love; I found it to be an excellent Pilsner. Poured clear gold with a soft, white head. Nose of crisp malts and light sugar. Flavor was crisp with mild sweetness and pleasant bitters on the tail. Light to medium in body with refreshing carbonation. Everything I would want from a Pils.

I usually have a draught pint or two of this stuff every time I go to Hop Devil in NYC. Most recently had it on 1/12/07 there.
Frothy, stark white head is full and shows moderate retention, providing low to moderate lacing. Lots of carbonation in the clear, copper-golden liquid.
Dusty, peppery hops indicate some type of Saaz or Kent goldings, seemingly. Dry, not overly aromatic and only lightly herbal-grassy (very dry, yellow grassiness). Highly attenuated soda bread-like malt notes, carbonic acid and a very clean, mildly crisp yeastiness on the finish. Warming allows light honey, but it’s pretty few and far between. Little bit of cardboard/paperiness in the aroma as well.
Wet cardboard and paper are strong in the filtered, extremely light body. Seltzer water and some white bread with a slight bit of honeyish malts are the extent of the main flavor, with strong pepperiness from the hops. Light stints of bitterness provide a cleansing, crisp palate, but it could be 100 times hoppier and still not be overdone. Acetyldehyde present in moderate, but noticeable quantities, giving it that strong, blanding paperiness and light sour apple-like flavor. Highly carbonated, too much so probably. No alcohol evident.

Very pale gold, heavily carbonated to slowly collapsing, dense white head. Grain and a bit of seawater. Weird nose. Dry (pale) malty taste, with a slight sourish edge; no doubt this is just the CO² coming through. Slightly fizzy, quite slick all the same for a pils. Aftertaste is slightly sweetish, even a bit maize-like. Not a bad pils. The brewery is very sympatico, maybe it reflects on the beer somehow?

(Bottle 25 cl) A name that promises a lot... Pale golden beer with a decent head. Rather watery body with a creeping, slow bitterness in the palate. 051297
