Super deep and hazy amber and copper coloured body with an orange glow and a thinnish, relatively fast-dying one centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of honey, alcohol, rum, grain, barley and a bit of grass/hay, but the alcohol burn is noticeable already. Medium to Full-bodied; Super strong malt and alcohol flavours with a bit of honey noticeable as well. Aftertaste shows some honey sweetness and leftover sweetness, but the alcohol and malt are almost too hard to get past before you get the sweetness. Overall, a decent beer at best - this has a ton of alcohol and is relatively well hidden, but it does show a lot of bitterness. Also, that’s with three+ years of aging, so it’s pretty much not going to get to a great state that is mild and soft if it’s not there already. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 27-September-2013 for US$9,99 sampled at home a few hours before leaving for Montana for the first time on 19-June-2016.

Tasting at Eugene’s
Cloudy amber color, dull, no head. Sweet and not very bitter drink, smells and tastes like old liquor, a bit fruity though, and very little bitterness.
Old, but not bad.

Blind tasting, beer #2 of 6.
2014 bottle. This was the second worst placing beer. My personal notes indicate it was just very watery and uninteresting.

Bottle poured, as #2 of 6 in the blind wheat wine tasting. 2014 vintage. Dark copper pour with no head. Thick body, spice heavy aroma. Bran like aroma and flavor up front. Cool finish. Smooth up front, but a bit harsh and bitter on the finish. Overall, an enjoyable beer here.

Bottle, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is fairly earthy, with a cardboard element, some caramel and bready notes. Flavour is fairly cardboardy, with bready malt and caramel. Rather old and off-putting. Not very good at this point.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting Sep 14 2013 - Pours light copper with no head. The aroma is of wheat, alcohol, and a vinous character. It’s sweet with obvious alcohol presence and fruity notes. Medium bodied with a dry, warming finish, it’s fairly good though kind of boozy.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. A loud pop when the cork was popped... huge pillowy beige head. Settles after a bit, leaving about an inch of the fluffy stuff. Ripe aroma of malt and what I associate with faded citrus hops. Also honey, florals, and fusels. Feels soft and silky, but finshed with signs of a bigger abv. Wheat, grain, florals, and more fusels. Honey seems to have gone by the wayside... still sweet though. A bit cloying even.

750 c&c from Malt & Vine. Pours orange/copper with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aroma is sweet (like malt but not quite). Med body. Flavor is not really brown sugar. It’s not exactly malty. Very tasty - but more like a light meade than a "barley" wine. Less than dry, but not overly sugary. Finishes in a pleasant way.

Another great bottle thanks to Toby. Pours a deep copper/golden color with a small white head. A big dry nose of apples and other fruit. The flavor has light heat, honey, some dusty berries and apples, lingering malty sweetness. Good.
