Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a murky dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is red berry citrus yeast. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light citrus, big woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of flowers, caramel malt, hops and yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with fruity and estery notes and sourish, vinous touches. Medium bitterness. Rough, estery and sweet-sourish aftertaste. Not bad but a trifle too acidic. 5 months past the BBD but this should affect a beer of this style.

A ’tarwetripel’ developped when the Waasland region in Flanders, where Boelens is situated, was startled by sightings of an out-of-place, roving wolf (and I am convinced I saw him too in that period, but anyway)... Apparently still made to this day. Off-white, loose head, deep brownish orange colour, cloudy. Estery nose, spices, caramelly maltiness, wheaty, very yeasty; nutty and caramelly malty taste, yeasty, sweetish fruitiness, citrus, coriander, peach, mild grassy hop bitterish finish. I had this a few times in bad (infected) condition but I will not take that into consideration for this rating.
