Bottle split at Pigs Ear '22, day one, 29/11/22 thanks to the Mad Man Mitch (76). Pitch black with a good sized dirty tan head. Nose is big charr, coffee bean, spice, dark malts, chocolate. Taste comprises dried fruits, modest coffee, soapy notes, dark malts, all a bit mediocre. Full bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of alcohol. A bit of a let down ... fell away after an okay nose ... just a touch soapy throughout ... infected?

Bottle shared at Pigs Ear 2022 - day 1. Big thanks to Kenny. Light to medium sweet flavour, some tangy dark mats, berries, day-old coffee. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, slightly acrid, ample tangy dark mats and semi-dark fruits. So so.

Pigs Ear. Bottle. Opaque dark black brown beer, teeny tiny tan head. Tangy dark malts, the coffee is rich and tangy and flirting with sour. Earthy espresso on the back end. Quite a light finish all told. Overall I feel this beer should be delivering much more, especially in the richness department.

Bottle shared by Drebus @ home. Opaque jet black color, dark brown colored head. Appearance is awesome. Aroma is malts, dark malts. Don't get much more. Flavor is malts, dark, malts, some coffee but definitely a weird, not good sour hint. Hmm too bad. Something did not go right here. Drinkable, but this can't be intended.

Pours black, nearly no head. Scent is raw coffee. Roasty. Taste is coffee, but really burnt. Like the spent coffee grains. Not great.

Coffee stout from Brazil – this is as ‘foreign’ as a stout gets, I suppose… At Billie’s Craft Beer Fest. Thick and frothy, membrane-lacing, mocha-beige, stable head, jet black robe. Aroma of espresso and coffee filters galore, pecan nut, bitter chocolate, mocha ice cream, leather, salmiak, old liquorice. Fruity-sweetish onset but not overly so, hints of fig and blackberry, medium fizz, full body; caramelly and brown-bready core with chocolate edge, bittersweet, eventually dominated by a very aromatic, colourful, warming and lively coffee effect, as if the beer suddenly changes to coffee – but then the caramelly maltiness, peppery hops and whisky-like alcohol bring it firmly back to strong flavoured stout territory. Classically styled, in all, less exotic than expected perhaps, but a very solid coffee stout for sure, enjoyed it a lot.
