Maiden is our Anniversary celebration, a blend of fresh barley wine with the same beer aged in a multitude of barrels over time. This year a standout Armagnac barrel provided a rich base which could then be augmented with the complexity of tannins, perceived acidity and depth from elsewhere. The result is a heart-warming treat, with a luxurious aroma inviting you in to caramel and burnt sugar sweetness that remains supremely drinkable. This is one of the most rounded, balanced vintages of recent years and we think you’re going to love it.

(Bottle) Hazy brown colour with brief, bubbly head. Malty, fruity, vinous nose with notes of caramel, brown sugar, dark bread, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, dates, oak wood and a touch of resin. Malty, fruity, vinous taste with caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, figs, brown sugar, oak wood, brandy, dark bread and a warming finish with a balanced spicy bitterness and a light acidity. Full body, quite sweet. Rich, complex and quite powerful. Great beer!

1/VII/22 - on tap @ DOK Brewing Fest (Gent), BB: n/a, 2018 version (2022-811) Thanks to all for sharing the beer!
A little cloudy dark amber to red brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: lovely stuff! Lots of caramel malts, pleasant oxidative notes, earthy touch, some tobacco, some hard liquor. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: wow, very oxidized, bitter, some caramel, earthy notes, oxidized, nothing sweet though. Aftertaste: very bitter finish, oxidized, earthy, tobacco, a little metallic, bitter finish, a bit unpleasant. Damn, I was expecting more from the smell. I like if a barley wine has some more body and residual sugars, this one is a bit hard for me.

Ridiculously tough wax, stuck cap. Dark brown, tan head. Smell is full of dried fruit, spirits, definitely armagnac. Smooth and pretty boozy, warming, little bit thin finish. Taste is real complex, loads of raisin, brandy, oak, dark fruit. Pretty nice.
