The Beer Store, Southampton PA 750ml: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is maple syrup, wood, dirt, and farmhouse funk. Taste is a little bit sweet, but fortunately not cloying like some other maple beers (generally Canadian alas). Taste is nice and dry. Big saison. Alcohol is well enough covered. Some nice complexity.

Bottle. Golden body with a frothy white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of spice, toasted grain, maple syrup, alcohol. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Heavy mouthfeel for a saison. Lots of spice. Tastes more like a spiced Belgian golden ale, kind of. Still, drinkable for what it is.

Bottle at Alibi Room, Vancouver, courtesy of Gerry
Hazy golden color with medium head. Nice aroma, spicy malt with delicate esters. Moderately sweet, it has enough malt flavor, strong spicy character, medium fruity touch, and strong bitterness; traces of maple. Some hop resins in the final, and warming alcohol.
It has the American taste, not truly Belgian, but it’s nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Tom. Cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma of fruity esters and a bit of spiciness. Sweetish flavor with fruity esters, yeasty spiciness and a drier, spicy, slightly alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/4/2013. Pours lightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, apple, banana, coriander, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, light wood, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy maple notes; with great strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, apple, banana, coriander, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, bubblegum, light wood, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon/orange zest, pear, apple, coriander, clove, pepper, bubblegum, herbal, grass, light wood, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy maple flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent saison style. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy maple flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Different shaped 750 ml Bottle, pours a cloudy orange with some mild retention in a snifter. Aroma is yeasty and zesty. Sugary but maple doesn’t stand out.

Pour is a hazy blonde with a huge white head. Aroma is musty and barnyard with some sugar. Flavor is a vanilla creamy malt with some pear and spicy yeast esters. Finish is sugar sweet with some basement must. I don’t get any maple syrup just a big sweetness. Still this is a decent saison. Very dusty and musty.
