Das Salm Bräu Böhmisch G´mischt ist wie das Pils seinen Ursprung in unserem Nachbarland Tschechien. Neben dem hopfigen Pils war das Böhmisch Dunkel der Ausgleich mit dominant malzigem Charakter und seiner schwarzen Farbe, beinahe lichtundurchlässig. Das Böhmisch G´mischt ist eine etwas leichtere Variante und wurde früher in alten Gasthöfen tatsächlich aus dem Dunklen und dem Hellen gemischt. Wir brauen diese Bierspezialität bereits so ein, der deutliche Malzgeschmack bleibt erhalten aber das Bier hat einen etwas schlankeren Abgang. Durch das besondere Heizverfahren unserer Brauereianlage wird bei der Maischarbeit der hohe Karamelanteil nicht überhitzt und es gibt daher keine Bittere, wie man dies oft von anderen dunklen Bieren kennt. Vor allem in der kalten Jahreszeit erfreut sich dieses Bier einer besonderen Beliebtheit. Die Stammwürze beträgt 12,5%, der Alkoholgehalt liegt bei 5,0%.

Sampled from tap at the brewpub. Clear, dark brownish red with a beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of caramel, some chocolate and a touch of licorice. Medium sweet, malty, slightly roasty and a little bitter taste of caramel, dark chocolate, some coffee and hints of licorice, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly roasty finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice Dunkel!

On tap at Salm Brau, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts and bready malt. Flavour is semi-sweet, with toasted nuts, caramel and bready malt. Decently structured but with little depth. Okay, but boring.

Tap at the brewpub/restaurant. Pours mid brown in colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, and light roasting. Medium to heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Like to meet in body, slightly oily and watery texture, soft combination. This one just edged it as my favourite of the beers on offer.

Dark amber-brown, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, beige head.
Aroma of caramel, toast, dark chocolate, honey, bread.
Tastes quite similar, with some more grass.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes moderate sweet, grainy, grassy, a bit floral, a bit bready.
Nice one. More Dunkel than Amber lager, with nice toasty and dark chocolate notes. Slightly too light maybe, lacks a bit more body. Overall a solid dark lager, fortunately not too sweet.

On tap at salm brau gaststatte. Beautiful dark amber/caramel color, light haze. Aroma of caramel malts, roasted bread and nice grassy hops. Taste is balanced sweetish and mild bitter. Medium body, average carbonation dry finish. Long hoppy finish. Very nice vienna style.

Das tschechische dunkle Bier ist weit über die Landesgrenzen bekannt. Und dieses Dunkle schlägt auch in diese Kerbe. Es ist wirklich gut gelungen und ist keine Chemie-Bombe oder ein Zuckerwasser (oder beides). Kann man getrost bestellen.
