Bottle bought at the Bierboom a while ago. Amber colour with creamy golden head. Aroma booze, bit sweet, touch of fruit there but not too strong aroma. Taste is sweet and boozy, caramel, boozy fruit, nice enough, but nothing that special. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pius X on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Cloudy deep amber colour, one finger frothy off-white head, redeces pretty quickly, light lacing. Aroma sweet malty, roasted, brown sugar, caramel, dates, cinnamon, alcohol. Taste medium sweet and bitter, caramel, spices (pepper, ginger, cinnamon, allspice). Full body, oily texture, average carbonation, aftertaste sweetbitter, roasty, spices, alcohol, bit sourish. Overall a strong, quite overpowering beer that lacks depth and subtleness.

Pours dark amber, good white foam . Sadly enough , another beer that is filled with flakes ... Smell is sweet, very yeasty . Taste is sharp , bit bitter. Full grainyness in the back . Tad sweet ( yet totally not sweet for a BW ) In balance, but very basic, safe, and in no way special ... Aftertaste is thick malts . Ok, nothing wrong with this beer ( accept the flakes ) but at this ABV , a beer should have more depth , intensity and complexity for me .

Bottle received from one of the commissioners of this beer, thanks Kristof. A very heavy, bronze coloured ale with an off-white, creamy, thin head which breaks due to the alcohol. Malty and sweet profile, apple, chocolate, pear, candied dates, caramel, warm alcoholic finish with some roasted bitterness and peppery hop bitterish touch. Rich, though perhaps a tad too sweet. Style-wise I’d classify this as an abt, though.

This shouldn’t be in this category - perhaps Strong Belgian, but definitely not a barley wine. Rich deep brown cloudy body with a nice two centimetre tall light brown/tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, tons of pit fruits, a bunch of caramel and toffee and even some fruity smells. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong flavour of milk chocolate, light roasted malt, a bit of hops, but mostly a rich and divine yeast and spicey malt note that dominates. Aftertaste shows a lot of complexity with the pit fruits melding with the toffee and caramel notes with a bit of yeast still hitting, but a ton of alcohol. Overall, a very nice beer with some great flavour profiles but5 nothing too crazy - a great beer to sample here in town! I sampled this 33 cL stubby bottle purchassed and consumed at Nuetnigenough in Bruxelles, Belgium on 12-August-2013 earlier in the evening for €4,40 at the restaurant.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel and straw, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
