500 mL bottle from State Line Liquors and shared at the 17th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 1/28/12. Batch 435 best by 180614. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big toffee malts, citrus and brown sugar. The taste is brown sugar, caramel, anise, raisin and bitter hops. Full bodied, chewy, lingering bitterness. Nice.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Batch 435.

A murky dark reddish brown barley wine with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, light vinous character, alcohol warmth, light licorice, pleasant. In mouth, sweet fruity caramel malt with vinous notes, dark fruits, alcohol warmth, licorice, still solid after 10 years. 2009 bottle, bb June 2014.

500mL bottle, pours a beautiful murky dark mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, rich dark fruits, toffee, butterscotch and candied sugar. Flavour of dried, dark fruits, brown sugar, toffee and caramel malts. Well-integrated flavours with not too much sweetness. Quite complex and full-bodied. Delicious.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a huge orangey head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, and some fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel sauce, alcohol, over ripe fruits, and a bit of hops and wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. The alcohol bites lightly in the tongue.

2009 Vintage bottle@GBF 2011: hazy orange with a red hue, no head to speak off, smells vintage, taste is sour & tart with musty old fruits, rotting funkiness, remnants of sugar & sweetness, rotting candy sugar & caramel, overripe fruits, rotting wood, booze, light, little carbonation, toasted malts, very odd & contradictory, maybe it is the aging that has gotten it all weird

50 cl bottle @ Gastropub Nordic. #435: Brygget 180609, BBE 180614.
Sweetish aroma has some very ripe fruits, farine sugar and raisins. Flavour has ripe fruits, sugar and raisins and it is actually typical to an aged barley wine. Dryish, sticky palate. A bit too sweet ’n sticky for me.

Bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Originally rated on 5.12.2009. Fruity and malty barley wine, could use some more aging.
