Seven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected European and American hops help support the monolithic maltiness. After conditioning in stainless steel, this beer waited patiently in bourbon barrels for 8 months and then was transferred into port barrels where it rested for another 6 months. Deep notes of burnt caramel, dark sweet cherries, vanilla, and dark chocolate.

(Thanks, Jeremy JStax) Bottle. A- Red wine, dark fruits, mild vanilla, chocolate, light booze. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Fudge, dark fruits, red wine, oak, vanilla, molasses, mild bitterness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Wowza. This is some good stuff. The Port barrel adds a lovely vinous flavor and perhaps even is the dominant barrel in this. All the flavors blend well enough that you can't really pick out a lot of individual notes. Very nice.
