18/7/2024. Cask at the 2024 Chelmsford Summer Beer & Cider Festival. Pours clear golden with a small bubbly/frothy off-white head. Good looking beer. Aroma is malt, caramel, grains, citrus, grass, gooseberry, passion fruit. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Oily, smooth, soft carbonation. Nice bitterness to finish. Likeable and more enjoyable from cask.

Cask at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Gold pour with a white head. Had this countess times back in the 90s/early 2000's, surprised I've not had it since. Anyway, bitter citrus & light spice aromas. Similar action in the taste, touch of nuts in the background. Lightly hoppy finish.

Swing-top picked up at Bridge Of Allan. It pours pale golden with a touch of haze with a few bubbles on the cap. The aroma is perfumed, sweet, oily, freshly cut grass, dull pine and lemon sherbet. The taste is soft, sweet, oily, doughy bread, grassy, straw, peppery, sponge cake, dull spice and muffin. Medium body and low carbonation. Far too flat, which is a shame.. Decent flavour, but lack of carbonation is a real shame.

Cask at the George, Croydon. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, orange muffin, toasty grain and earth. The taste is crisp, doughy, bitter-sweet, light grass, caramel, white sugar, light alcohol and dull toasty grain with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Nowhere near the greatness of keg or bottle version. Ok at best.

Clear golden pour. Pale malts & grassy aroma. Taste is similar. Light sweet, light bitter, pale malts, grassy hop. Light body, soft carb, creamy mouthfeel, soft dry lightly bitter finish. Nice on cask, prefer it to the keg version. The creaminess on cask suits the beer
