On tap at Crowbar. A black to dark brown beer topped by a dense beige head leaving some lacing. The aroma has roasted malts, dark sugar, some vanilla, a good dash of caramel sauce and some alcohol and boozyness. Nice but a bit ordinary. It's full-bodied, softly carbonated and warming on the palate, quite sweet, with a flavor of roasted malts and dark sugar dominating. Caramel sauce, booze, dark chocolate, a herbal hint and oak notes in the flavor. Lasting finish. Not the most exiting of beers, and a bit too rough and edgy, most likely due to the choice of barrels. 190608

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt notes with some chocolate notes and strong barrel-aged notes. Taste is a mix of roasted malt notes with some black chocolate notes and some strong barrel-aged notes with light residual sugar notes. Body is full with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Well brewed BA stout with Mezcal notes adding some nice complexity.

O: 7.725 V: 4.85 G: 6.25 B: 4.5 O: 14.9 T: 38.225 Private imported bottle. Thanks to Phil. Chocolate, molasses, coffee, brownies make up the essentials of a rather roasted olfactory with elements of toasted. Medium-sized, well-formed foam on a black, opaque liquid. Taste starter consists of a strong and warm alcohol from a powerful Mescal. Rich and creamy, the taste has elements of bitter chocolate as well as other sweet malty elements reminiscent of molasses, fudge and caramel. The roasting elements are well below the standards. The presence of esters reminiscent of raisins. Alcohol quite biting in the finish thus bringing down the bitterness of roasting elements. The body is well rounded and plump. The carbonation is very soft enhancing the soft and velvety character of the texture. However, alcohol and sweetness are too potent and reduce the bitterness of roasting. Still appreciable.
