Bottle from my parents. Opaque bronze. Foamy white head. Aroma has some berry sourness over caramel and nuts. Flavourwise it has that sour berry streak with a soda water element. Develops some woodiness. Underlying veg and water. Light-medium bodied. Thin to slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Muted bitter. Not great.

Bottle from Bitter Virtue Soton and drunk at home. Dark brown mahogany colour lasting beige head. Some soft chocolate flavours. Brown malt on aroma with some malty flavours and aromas some dark fruits. It’s a pretty standard brown bitter. Some bitter on the finish. It’s fine. A little watery maybe.

Cask at the Jolly Sailor, Farnham. A golden amber pour with a ring of white head; floral aroma; sweet grainy body; and a light dry bitterness to finish. A no-nonsense straightforward ordinary bitter, and very drinkable too.
