Super dark coloured body with a nice, three to four centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, raisins, figs, earth, alcohol, toffee, smoked peat and a touch of pure caramel and caster sugar. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong earthy flavour of toasted malt, peanuts, grain, yeast, toffee, caramel, raisins, figs and a lot of toast, coupled with alcohol and a rich bready and nutty yeast quality near the end. Aftertaste shows some grain, alcohol and nuts, yeast, toffee and a lot of lightly smoked qualities that are very nice and end quite sweet. Overall, naturally this is quite a bit different than a traditional abbey dubbel, but that is to be expected, given we’re in the west, but compared to most other options brewed in the East, this is a great option and at the very worst, a nice offering to have over here! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Jason’s Grocery (International Supermarket) in Taipei 101 Mall, in central Taipei, Taiwan on 24-July-2017 for NT$105 sampled in my hotel room a few minutes later, today on 24-July-2017.

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Very dark brown colour, beige head, Aroma of malts, dust and a hint of coffee. Dry and dusty flavour (well, there is a slight sweetness of brown sugar). Not undrinkable, but the brewers have a long way to go before they reach trappist level.

Slank for sin voltstyrke.
