Very strong roast bitter malt aroma. Texture is rather thin and watery. The flavour does not deliver what the aroma promises. Itโs quite bland apart from the bitter finish.

Cask at The Beehive, JDW, Brixton, London. Not too much to say about this one. Pours a slightly clear, red-brown with a foamy, off-white head. Character is marked by modest, dry roasted malts and light sweetness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry finish, some dirt and earth and leaves, just faint roast and sweetness. Average.

Cask at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria. Reddish chestnut with a tight beige head; grainy aroma with some fruit; smooth with a milky texture, fruity flavour and perhaps a hint of coffee; then a dry finish with an assertive bitterness. I reckon this is more an ESB than a stout, but itโs very nice however itโs described.
