(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 29 Nov 2014) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of caramel, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Malty, spicy taste with caramel, ginger, cinnamon, Christmas fruit-cake and a gentle spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, spicy and quite Christmasey, still quite well balanced. Nice one.

Bottle from the Beers of Europe Christmas Crate. Copper coloured pour with a wispy white head. Aromas of smoke, salt, toffee, raisins and figs. Lots of Christmasy flavours in there- figs, walnuts, dates plus a splash of sweet spice, bonfire toffee, burnt wood and raisin. Quite a tasty brew.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stand at the Good Food Show at Birmingham NEC. Deep amber beer. Tastes rather strongly of Christmas pudding. Yep, toffee and raisins and a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar and more raisins. Nice to have a Christmas beer that’s actually got something to do with Christmas. Unfortunately there’s nothing to balance it and it rapidly gets too sweet and syrupy. Still not bad though.

Bright clear red - amber beer with a few pale cream coloured bubbles for a head. Palate is light and dry and mildly crisp. Minerals. Starts with a dry floral bitterness with whisper of orange and spices. Papery dry malt and then a dry finish with mixed spice bitter linger. Bit of an odd duck, first mouthful was okay, then it got a bot chewy, and then came full circle to okay again. Passable, just.
