A rich, full-bodied stout with coffee and chocolate added to the boil to supplement the roast flavours of dark malts. Fairly high levels of bitterness balance the malty sweetness to give a robust, warming stout for the festive period. American Cluster hops give both bitterness and a delicate fruity aroma.

Manchester Beer & Cider Festival 2016. Black coloured ale. Steady within its character - palatable with a lightish roasted malt aroma and taste.

Handpull cask at Shakespeare’s Ale and Cider House, Kelham Island. Impenetrable black with a tan head. aroma dominated by mild coffee with a hint of oatmeal. Full sweet taste turns bitter on the finish, with a grainy bitter aftertaste reminiscent of espresso and charcoal. Formidably drinkable, and very very tasty.

Really dark with a creamy head. Lots of vanilla in the aroma and also in the initial taste. Finish has bitter coffee grinds.
