A golden and full-bodied malt beer that makes for a strong pint. The first beer brewed by Hunter's it features a lovely malty flavour hopped with Goldings, a typically English hop.

500ml bottle brought back from my trip to Devon last September. BBE - 26-02-22. Pours a very flat amber with zero head. Aromas & tastes of sweet caramel & biscuit. Moderate body. Sweet flat finish. Disappointed & going to be difficult to finish

Bottle from Darts Farm, near Exeter. Pours clear amber with a smidge of beige head. Aroma: biscuit, toffee, caramel. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, light rich caramel, biscuit, dry-ish. Medium body with low carbonation. Decent enough although it could do with a little more carbonation.

Bottle from Mum & Dad - cheers! Dull pale amber, flat and no head. Nice and fruity up front, but then it's digestive biscuits and twigs with negligible bitterness and a musty finish. Poor, and being flat makes it worse. Based on the other rates here, the flatness wasn't unique to my bottle either. Clearly the brewery need to sort out their bottling.

Bottle from the Food Shop in Dartington. Appearance - amber with attractive lacing. Nose - crunchy biscuit and toffee. Taste - caramel biscuit this time. Palate - rich and medium bodied. Dry sweet but roasty finish. Overall - another solid bitter, I suppose just about an ESB.

Cask ale, half pint at George’s Meeting House (JDW). Pearl white head, next to clear amber-gold body, fragile lacening. Malt-fruity aroma, mid-dry. Blended flavours of pears, mid-dry apples and caramel followed by a bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. Pretty alright (Exeter 29.09.2016).
