A dark, strong best bitter. It mixes a complex malty flavour with a blackcurrant aroma, leaving a subtle sweet nutty aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a nice fluffy head. Nose - burnt bread and some honey. Taste - more burnt flavours, probably getting into highland toffee. Nutty too. Palate - close to medium bodied. Dry through middle and finish. Overall - it grew on me.

500ml bottle poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 11th Sep 2015. Mahogany/Chestnut red hue to the brew, off-white head that stayed. Malty and nutty, woody nose, berry fruitiness also within the aroma. The taste followed the same lines: mid-roasted malts, tree bark, dry roasted peanuts and red berries combining within the flavour. OK, the red fruits take centre stage in the mouth, but the other stuff is there in the background. An interesting beer and I look forward to trying the other bottles from this brewery I bought alongside this beer.
