Le Saisonnier is named after the seasonal workers for which the first, old-world Saisons were originally brewed. We brewed this table beer with European malts, hopped it assertively with European hops and then aged it in a Missouri Oak Foedre for 6 months with a blend of Missouri microflora to create a delicate, yet expressive experience from this naturally conditioned beer.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; Batch #3, bottled in 6/2019. Pours lightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and flufy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, toasted oak, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light leathery/musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, wine barrels, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, toasted oak, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light leathery/musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness; herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness; and Brett/wine tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, toasted oak, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light leathery/musty funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, wine barrels, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitter/tart/tangy/spiciness balance; with no pucker/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spicy/tart/tangy and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, and fairly crisp/sticky/acidic/tangy/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is a fantastic sour/wild saison. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, wine barrels, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/spicy/acidic/tangy/drying finish. Great soft feel, and mellowly lactic/tannic. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Amazing balance of Brett/Bacteria/Saison yeast complexity and wine barrel presence/integration; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone for the ABV. Mild residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding spot on style example as expected.

Bottle thanks to Dak! Vintage 2014. Pours very lightly hazy golden orange, small off-white head, decent lacing. Aroma is lactic, brett, oak tannin, earthy and dirty. Flavor is medium tart, a tad sharp. Dry, tannic, lemony, only a light funk. Medium body, soft carbonation. Kinda tasty.

Bottle shared by Peter at RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a cloudy amber orange with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some dark fruits, funk, light grains and grass with a bit of earthiness. Flavor has a bit more of tart fruits coming through with a nice funkiness and an underlying grass notes.
