We admit that a Shire Horse is hardly the littlest of critters, but our traditional high quality best bitter is the pride of our stable. Made from the highest quality English grains, with a dash of German malt, bittered with whole hop English Target hops and the best quality Slovenian Bobek.

Hand pulled pint at the Imp & Angel, Lincoln on 28th November 2025. Brown with a lasting off white crown. Earthy, nutty and malty at first, the hops kick in and the beer becomes more like a traditional English Bitter.

Copper brown with a frothy white head and just a touch of sweet malt on the nose. Light bodied with caramel malt, some nuttiness and floral hops nicely balanced, just a hint of spice coming through in a dry, slightly bitter finish

Cask at Hops, Crewe - @3.9%. pours “bitter brown” with a sizeable foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly malts with a hint of oranges. In the mouth it is quite fruity with autumn fruits supplementing the along and some underlying biscuits. After a while some traditional hops can be detected, plus traces of spices. Finish is slightly bitter. This is a good old school bitter – great !
