Half pint at Harry's bar, Wakefield. Medium creamy beige head. Clear almost black pour. Quite chocolatey.

Bottle. Bier Huis, Ossett. Clear, dark ruby red. Film, and ring of tan head. Milk chocolate. Dried vine fruits. Hint of grassy hop. Taste is light, earthy bitter. Some fruity, chocolate sweetness. Way too fizzy, though. Makes the beer feel thin. Earthy bitter, ashy dry finish. I’d fancy this on cask, maybe, but this isn’t great.

Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and fairly crisp. Thin dark malts with a fair bit of smoky roast. Mild creamy coffee. Dry and slightly estery finish. A bit dry and gritty, couldn’t drink much.

Cask at the Black Country Arms, Walsall. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a big frothy off white head and loads of clingy lace. The aroma is roasted roasted malt liqourice. The flavour is medium bitter with a rich chewy malt light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. A lovely chewy beer. I feel as though I could quit food and live on this beer alone.
