75cl bottle (with tin) @ Belgian Beer Geeks Autumn Gathering 2025. Praise be to Tim for this one. Pours an unclear deep amber, foamy off-white head. As expected the deep dark rich candy rock sweetness has subsided in favour of a more gentle, malty amber ale character, medium-bodied, lightly oxidised but seems to have aged gracefully with light allusions to dried dark fruits. Glad to have tried it. Rated kindly.

Bottle shared at BBGG. Bit hazy dark brown. Sugary, figs, alcohol, dusty hops, dry grapes. Greasy, malty and sugary. Solid sweet and bitter. Almost full bodied. Not bad, but probably past its prime.

Bottled way back in 2006 (rating from then). Poured dark w/nice head. Yeast, fruit, malts etc - just about as awesome as one would expect from these guys/this type.

wow............in my opinon, this is as good if not better than Westy 12, and alot easier to obtain! amazing aroma of ripe fruit, plums, figs, and apples. flavour is much of the same. its very yeasty, and quite malty. Reminds me alot of the best belgian trappist beers. just outstanding!

LCRBM2: so this is the big one... Complex aroma of malt and hops. Also a very complex flavor. Banana, plums, citrus, raisin, porto. I had tasted a lot of beers already in this meeting, so tasting circumstances were less than ideal (to put it mildly). I need some beer to take home, give it a rest, and then enjoy a proper glass on a quiet winter evening. But even now I have to say: this is a great beer! And here’s the re-rate: Bottle, bought in Leiden for a sh**load of money, but it was worth every penny of it. Malt and flowery hops in the aroma. Cream. Full bodied. Malty, creamy, flowery, hoppy flavor. Raisin and some warming alcohol. Dark chocolate, some caramel and roasted malt. Extremely well balanced and delicious beer.

Vintage 2006. Pairing with Trappist cheese (Grand Chimay Blue) and other tasting cheese (Matured Stilton and Brie de Meaux Au Lait Cru). Serve in Westvleteren goublet. Barwa krwisto-bordowa. Pod koniec metna niczym smazone powidla. Zapach owocowy, owoce swieze zmiksowane do formy soku oraz niektore suszone. Brak chmielnej nuty, no ale do serow wystarcza owoce. Rodzynki szaleja, razem z nimi figi, daktyle, mnostwo naturalnych z pestka indyjskich daktyli. For End. Many thanks for Authentic Trappist Cheese to Tim De Roeck.
