750 ml. Deep amber with reddish highlights. Large, fizzy off-white body that slowly diminishes to a thin layer of bubbles. The aroma is fruity with raisin and plum. Notes of candy, sugar, dates, clove and moldiness/mustiness. The flavor is heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately to heavily sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Tastes of overripe fruit, cotton candy, vanilla, raisins along with the warming of alcohol and leaving a slight sensation of mold. Excellent mouthfeel with a full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Classic quad, though a little chewier and richer than Westy and, at the same time, not as complex and much sweeter. A little more bitterness would have helped the balance, but still tasty.

Bottle, thx to henrikb. It pours a cute amber to copper body with microfloaties and a creamy beige head. Cellar, dried fruits, sugars and spices blend nicely in the aroma. It’s sweet, smooth and warming in the mouth, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. There’s flavors of white sugar, dried fruits, some alcohol and caramel sweetness, with a nice bitterness in the finish. Just really lovely. 090724

A hazy dark brown ale with a thick moka head. A pleasant dark fruit and treacle aroma. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar with light orange peels, coriander, yeast and Belgian hops. Rich and warming alcohol. Very nice. Bieropholie import. Enjoyed in Paipa, Colombia, March 7 2009.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours hazy brown with copper hues and thin tan head. The aroma has a nice load of raisins, prunes, plums and a bit of cherries to go along with molasses and a sense of ground black pepper. The taste has similar rich dark fruit notes like raisins, prunes, figs and plums that are sprinkled with a dash of black pepper. Beyond those notes are varied spices. From midway to the finish rich bold dark fruitiness rules the palate. Very nice.

courtesy of kiefdog Pours dark brown. Aroma of dark fruits, malts. Taste, malty - caramel - with good sugary notes, strong dark fruit presence, candi sugar, enough yeast to give this one light spice presence, loaded with fruits and up there with the best Trappists.

Bottled 75cl
Beautiful ruby color with some floating yeast particles, good cloudy beige head, lace. Fruity, grassy, light toffee, hints of metal and smoke - nose is weaker than expected. Quite carbonated. Frutiy, toffeish, not as complex as normal Abt 12. Alcohol is well hidden. With score 4.09 this is maybe a bit overhyped here.

Bottled (thanks drewbeerme!). Amber colour with particles floating around. Mediumsized beige head. Aroma is grass, parfume, some caramel, alcohol, earth and spices. Flavour is caramel, toffee and grass with some mild fruityness. Quite different from the normal Abt 12, and sadly not as good as the normal either.
