On tap at Blackback pub.
This was poured into at tulip and I just had HF’s James for comparison.
The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lacing was somewhat there; lightly stringy.
The smell had a crisp sharp bitter cocoa bitterness hitting the coffee notes and then some strong citrus and piney bitterness coming in to bring the bitterness a bit up.
The taste was mainly the same with a decent dry and bittersweet aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a decent dryness (of a Black IPA) showing its true face and trying to make it \"unsessionable.\"
Overall, as a Black IPA, well, somehow, this one comes out a bit better than HF’s only because the aftertaste and finish aren’t as harsh as HF’s. I’d still have HF’s but Zero Gravity beat them out on style guidelines, just saying.

Draft @ Zero Gravity. Black color with little retention. Nose is a blend of chocolate malt and pine with some hints of fruit. Flavor is interesting. Lots of different hop nuances. Fruit, pine and light grassyness with a soild amount of chocolate malts. Nice balance of dark malt and plentiful hop addition. Low bitterness. Well crafted

A deep dark IPA with a thick creamy brown head. In aroma, nice pungent c-hops over chocolate malt, grassy, light grassy notes. In mouth, a smooth bitter chocolate with faint grassy hops, lingering bitterness, grapefruit pulp, nice. On tap at American Flatbread Burlington, April 7 2012.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black with a small, creamy and tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and solid hoppy fruity. Bitter, roasted malty and distinct hops fruity. Bitter and dry finish. Ends fruity and roasted malty mixed. Nice.
