Can bought from the Blue Boar, Leicester, and drunk at home. Dark brown, translucent with a thin tan head. Gorgeous aroma, some light coffee, milk chocolate, beef tea, lavender oil. Tastes bittwrsweet with a sharp chalky bitterness cutting through the sumptious malty flavour. Long finish, slightly medicinal finish with a light meaty savoury character in the aftertaste. Masterful.

440ml can. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, chocolate and some light grassy hops. The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a roasty, liqourice, boozy alcohol, chocolate, light vanilla palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from the Trembling Madness online. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Great beer overall, with a nicely layered dark malt character, some bitter ash, sweet chocolate, dark fruit accents, raisins, coffee. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, a touch sticky, with more bittersweet dark chocolate, ashy roast, scorched earth. Hits the right notes.

440ml can from Brass Castle. Black-brown colour with reddish tinge, foamy biege head leaving lacing and aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruity, coffee. Taste is rich chocolatey malt, dark fruits, with roast coffee, biscuit, and some tangy ashy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable, good for gluten free.
