Heftily hopped & aroma packed, Hobgoblin IPA stays true to its ancestral traditions. Brewed with Fuggles, Golding & Styrian hops and then amped up by the addition of some mighty American hops. This collision of Old and New World hops provide an explosion of tropical aroma and a juicy bitterness. Born out of character.

Can from Vrutak Kaptol. Huh, a bittersweet rate, wat with Wychwood closing down soon seemingly... Slightly hazy dark amber body, off-white head, medium but not staying for too long. Quite fruity aroma, stone fruit esters mostly, perfumey, rose water, caramelly, just low oxidation. Dryish taste, interrupted by a moment of soft maltiness, orange and herbal notes are there, some stone fruit esters again. This is holding up quite nicely considering it was probably canned Sep 30th 2023 (looking at the best before), just some oxidation is there down the line, but this is and was a very decent beer I feel!

Bottle from Co-Op, Whitstable. Poured a clear golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is caramel malt, light woody hops. The flavour is over-moderate bitter, with a smooth, fresh, earthy, light citrus, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Fairly malty, orange hops not much tropical fruit and maybe not to much of an IPA. Pleasant enough though.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Waitrose. Pours clear honey-gold, lightly effervescent, with a fluffy, white head. Light-medium sweet with some orange peel, pine needles, sun-kissed malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. OK balance to finish, more citrus fruits, some bread, faint dough, bitter peel, grass. Drinkable.

Bottled. Orangeish golden colour, mediumsized white head Aroma is floral, fruity, some spruce and mild wooden and honey tones. Flavour is quite much the same elements as the aroma with the wood being a bit more evident.
