A pale golden ale. Brilliantly bright and hoppy, brewed with 100% pale malt and the choicest East Kent Golding hops.

Bottled (from Prisma Alko, Vaasa). Golden colour, small white head. Kind of typical SN housearoma and flavour through it all. Otherwise the aroma has some Kentish hops, mild grassy and some bready notes. Flavour is quite similar, with some minerals, grassy bitterness and slight metallic edge to it.

Bottle 500ml (Alko)
Clear copper color, small off-white head. Typical Shep Neame aroma with nuts, mentholic hops and toffee. Medium-bodied. Flavor is also toffee, English hops, menthol, spiceyness, nutty maltyness. It is like Bishop’s Fingers with extra malts and extra hops. Shepnerd Neame house flavor is strongly present. It is not a bad thing anyhow.

50cl bottle from Alko. Pours amber color with a thick white head. Looks nice. Malty nose, some toffee and biscuits. Bit harsh at times. Flavor has biscuity malts, sweetness, floral notes, hops. Long finish.

Bottle from Waitrose, consumed at home. Deep mid-gold with a loose white head. A fair bit of carbonation, but not quite as much as your average supermarket bitter. Light aroma, bit of lemony citrus and hay. Taste is an improvement: sharply sweet, with malt and sugar candy backing up the citrus. Limeade finish. It lacks the straightforward simplicity of the cask version, but the higher ABV adds a much-needed oomph. Pretty darn good.

A golden beer, a head is almost medium and blond. Aroma has biscuity malts, some wood, slightly musty. Taste has malts and some biscuits, citrusfruits, wooden hoppyness that is strong enough. Medium bodied, nice carbonation, nice to drink. Overally too musty, I expect freshness and lightness from the golden ale, both of them are missing from this beer.

500ml bottle - Was quite sceptical about this one having just had another Shep Neame minutes earlier, but this came out okay. Clear gold, foamy white head. Solid hoppy aroma, taste bitter-sweet with a decent syrupy palate. Quite enjoyable in the end. Not "Brilliant", but okay.

Bottle, 5.6%. Light caramelly aroma with a hint of floral hops. Clear golden/copper colour. Small frothy chalk white head. The flavour is dusty with the characteristically sweetish EKG note. Late bitterness, slightly tannic.
