Keg half pint at The Peirson, St. Helier. Golden colour. Decent aroma of cider apples. The mouthfeel is a bit watery, but the medium dry flavour has decent notes of cider apples, hints of oak and sulphites.

440ml can as Blackthorn Gold from Bargain Booze, Richmond. Orangey golden colour, white foam head that dissipates away and fruity apple aroma. Taste is sweet, juicy apple, sugary fruity, some acidity, with hint of woody funk and sulphur. Thin slightly oily mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, semi-dry finish. Kind of OK, tastes watered down.

Keg. Queens Hotel_Holifay Inn, Farnborough - the nearest bar to the office for a snowy walk. As the rebranded Blackthorn Gold. Sweet apple peel aroma. Marmalade gold. Scant white head. Bubbly. Sour with underlying sweetness. Light and thin. Fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Bog standard, verging on fizzy pop.

440ml can. Pale gold and fizzy. Sweet, industrial, apple pulp cider with not much of a finish. Not for me.

440ml can from the local Scotmid. Looks like Irn-Bru and, to some extent, tastes like Irn-Bru. Pours golden orange, like cheap marmalade, no head. Aromas are cooked apples. Taste as previously mentioned. Chalky, mineral notes, sweet. Watery on the finish.

Bottle. 4.5%. Orange. Smells of sweet apples, faintly musty and some skin. But there’s not much sign of anything in the taste. Some apples, but pretty sugar watery. A very slight move towards dryness at the end. Pretty basic. They could’ve tried putting some cider apples in it.
