Rich, dark chocolatey flavours classically combine with a subtle hit of ghost chilli heat.
We brew Ghost Hare using chocolate malt and Challenger hops, which mingle perfectly with oak-smoked ghost chillies from the Upton Cheyney Chilli Company to give a spicy kick after each mouthful.

Backlog July 2015. Dark amber body under a nice, dense beige head. Nica aroma, dark malt, dry fruit, coffee and pepper. Taste is sweet dark malt, caramel, chili and some chocolate. Fine body with a nice, some burning aftertaste.

Bottle at sister-in law’s house and my first smoked ghost chilli porter. It poured well and had an appropriate brooding, dark and impenetrable look in the glass. The nose was toasted malt and a whiff of chilli. The first sip was an immediate taste of toasted malt that was quickly steamrollered by an intense burn from the chilli that dominated everything. I had another sip and it was just the chilli burn that was still in my mouth 10 minutes after I had tipped the rest down the sink. It was horrible and not something I ever want to drink again. What lunatic drinks this stuff? Apart from as some sort of a dare at the end of the evening when drunken machismo overcomes sanity and any sense of self-preservation?

500ml bottle, thanks to Mark! Pours dark with a small tan head. Aroma of dark malts, no chilli. Taste has an immediate spicy tang, alongside some dark chocolate, dark malts. The initial chili hit does fade towards the end, but being a hot chili head I quite liked the tang it provided. Smooth malts provide a nice base. Not bad.

Bottle from beershop in Bath, pours black with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, marshmallow. Taste...Wow the first sip.. a massive chilli hit... i’m on fire....further dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, cacao powder, dry, thin, medium body, soft co2, some coffee, in base a simple porter however the chilli makes it very nice ( if you like strong chilli beers ), otherwise skip this one .. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bath Ghost Hare on 25 May 2018 at 14:09 - Score: 7

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Dark brown and opaque, with a creamy, tight, off-white head. Big, black coffee and plain chocolate aroma, with a suggestion of chilli heat. Flavour had more chocolate upfront, some truffle sweetness leading to a toasty finish with some long lasting chilli warmth. Good.
