6° is the precocious, cherry-flavoured younger brother of our perennial favorite, 8°. Like its older brother, it is a rich, dark brew that is briefly kettle soured for a crisp finish and fermented with a special yeast from West Flanders that imparts a distinct plum aroma to the beer. Finally, 6° is spiked with 400 pounds of Aldergrove-grown Montmorency cherries.

Poured from the tap. Slightly reddish brown with off white head. Very mild stone fruit and light cherry. A unique and interesting rendition of a dubbel.

Bomber, Legacy (a while back). Light brown, with a slight haze. It went into a TeKu and while it frothed up quite a bit, it didn't generate much in the way of a lasting head. The aroma has quite a bit of toasty, slightly chocolate malt notes up front. On the palate, the tartness is evident, but there's a lot of richer, date-like sweetness as well. The tart cherries are quite evident, and play off the sweet malts quite well. There's a touch of alcohol that sort of rounds things out on the palate. Nice.

A dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with candy sugar, dark fruits, molasses, cherry pulp, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with candy sugar, loads of cherries, lactic acid notes, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex.

On tap at the brewery, a rather nondescript industrial address near a SkyTrain station yet somehow managing to be hopping with people. This has a noice red to brown body and a bit of off white foam. It reeks of grape juice, dried dates, faint cherries. The flavour is faint sugar with hints of fruit skins and a malt finish. More watery than it should be. A lot is good here but a lot could be improved. Oh well, time to catch the SkyTrain home - there's a PeeWee Herman movie I gotta watch.

On tap at Dageraad, pours a deep dark red with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of tart, intense cherries, lacto and Belgian yeast. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of intense dark cherries upfront, followed by lacto and just a touch of tartness. Nice incorporation of the cherries. It doesn't strike me as a dubbel, certainly not an authentic one, but it's quite tasty.
