15 December 2018. Black Beer Fest, Ieper. Cheers to Anke, Erwin & Ama Deke! Hazy black with a thin, tan head; little lacing. Aroma of cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, espresso, macadamia, walnut, toast, fondant. Taste is light malty sweet, some vanilla & cocoa bean with a nutty edge; medium roasted bitterness has pure fondant, brown bread & rather 'generic' coffee pad. More of the same in the dry, toasty, faintly earthy hoppy finish, lingering coffee bean, subtle dash of warming coffee liqueur alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. A bit too straightforward, perhaps.

JAN-2020. CAN. Batch #2. Opaque black, mocha head. Big chocolate, pralines. Also something juicy, notes of fresh cut pumpkin. Similar taste - chocolaty and sweet, with minimal balancing alcohol and spicy hop. Of course, no aging notes at this point, like the 2018 has. Big, thick and candyish, yummy for sure, but not as great as the last year's and not among the best Romanian impies. 3,9/5.
JAN-2020. BOTTLE. Batch #1. Pitch black, big espresso head. The aroma is rich chocolate, chocolate truffles, Bailey's liquor. Also, signs of aging - dried parsley, black olives brine, cheesy woody hops. Similar flavour - rich smooth chocolate candies, very light alcoholic spice and spicy hops. And then those old dried salty herbs. Certainly past its time, but still enjoyable. 3,6/5.
DEC-2018. Pitch black, small espresso head. Loads upon loads of sweet dark chocolate, chocolate truffles and cocoa powder, some dark sugars and a hint of alcohol. There's no way one don't love this. There's enough chocolate in the taste but, thankfully, not so much residual sweetness. Appropriate spicy earthy dried leaves bitterness and maybe some tobacco. The taste of petty straight, actually - nothing crazy at this point - a nice balance between malts, roast, bitterness and booze. Rich and inky, though not heavyweight body. 8-4-8-5-16=4,2.
SEP-2018. Draft at BCBF 2018. Pure chocolate truffles, enough spicy bitterness, super silky mouthfeel. A liquid candy. 8-5-8-5-16=4,2.
MAY-2018. BOTTLE shared with mcberko. Opaque black. Huge candy bar and cocoa aroma, really bold strong taste with huge cocoa and chocolate, just enough bitterness. Yeah, candy bar overdrive, but I am not sure I am going to enjoy this beer again and again. 7-4-8-4-15=3,8.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is intense, with heaps of dark chocolate and coffee upfront, with a touch of vanilla beans and roast. Flavour is quite intense as well, with lots of roasted coffee beans upfront, with a very earthy overtone to it, a touch of vanilla and dark cocoa. Very adjunct-heavy - the more you drink, the more artificial it becomes. It's a fun beer, but not my preferred type of impie stout.
