Évaluation no. 53 Janvier 2011. Aucun nez perçu. De couleur brune. La mousse disparait presque instantanément. L’attaque est puissante et alcoolisée mais pas désagréable. Fortement caramélisée. On sent bien la liqueur de bourbon. Riche et onctueuse. Les sucres sont très présents. La finale est magnifique et complexe. Presque une liqueur de malt. Devrait avoir un bon potentiel de vieillissement.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur brune et claire. Nez liquoreux boisé (fût de chêne, bourbon), malté de caramel toffee sucré, léger de vanille, d’alcool et de fruits (raisins aux notes vineuses) avec des notes de noix rôties. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture sirupeuse et aux notes liquoreuses. Léger goût fruité (raisins légèrement vineux, faibles traces de cerises) accompagné d’un goût boisé (fût de chêne, présent en arrière goût toute la gorgée) et d’un léger goût de vanille lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût malté de caramel toffee assez sucré avec de faibles traces de chocolat et de rôti. Parallèlement, l’on retrouve un léger goût d’alcool réchauffant accompagné d’un goût progressif liquoreux (bourbon) jusqu’en finale, où l’on retrouve également de petites notes asséchantes de noix. Post-goût long et un peu sec, légèrement amer d’alcool avec un goût boisé, liquoreux sucré avec des notes fruitées (moût de raisins).

Has a really excellent dark amber-ruby body with a nice sophisticated (yes, sophisticated) looking bunch of head on top. The aroma is an odd sweet and woody mess that is neither appealing nor disgusting - it just is, and is hard to pin down into one flavour category, perhaps hazelnut dust best describes it. The flavour is similar - it’s this huge rush of sugary syrupy hazelnut followed by a dry finish. Way too sweet for my tastes, and totally unbalanced in my opinion for what they’re trying to do. But at almost five bucks for a 341ml bottle, you’ll want to at least finish it.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of bourbon is dominating with nice notes of caramelized malt and light candi sugar notes. Taste is a complex mix between some candi sugar, heavy caramelized malt and nice bourbon notes. All ingredients are well balanced with great overall drinkability factor. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed and probably one of the best from this brewer.

A deep dark brown ale with a thin lacing moka head. In aroma, sweet beet sugar with light vanilla notes, molasses, loads of dark fruits, some nutella, over the board sweetness. In mouth, a super sweet licorous malt with molasses and licorice, vanilla, loads of warming alcohol. Overall, a sweet cloying beer, good considering the unadventurous nature of the brewery, but too sweet for me. And at 4.29$ a 12 on. bottle, a bit on the pricey side.
