Before the takeover by Backus in 1994, Trujillo was brewed by Sociedad Cervecera de Trujillo. Over the years Compañía Nacional de Cerveza, makers of Pilsen Callao, bought the majority of SCT shares, a situation that remained until the takeover.

A golden lager with a thick collapsing white head. In aroma, sweet adjunct malt with light grassy German hops, light mineral notes, boring. In mouth, a sweet cloying malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, watery bodied, boring. Can from an abuelita tienda near my hotel, Trujillo Perú.

Backus Trujillo. Gold color. In between Pilsner and Cusquena. Malt flavot, some corn flakes cereal. Good carbonation. Refreshing, not too sweet, decent palate. It is a pale lager but a decent one.

Bottle in Trujillo, just your average macro lager with a taste of mostly corn on a fizzy yellow body. Ok but drink it cold.
