It is easy to convert drinkers to this 3.5% very moreish bitter, which is named Forward’s Choice in honour of local and national Rugby clubs. Maris Otter malted barley and four varieties of English aroma hops combine to produce a balanced beer with a lingering dry finish.

Half-pint. Crystal clear amber body, filmy layer, upper part lacing on the glassware. Moderately caramel malts on the nose, hints of green hops as well. Mixed flavour profile of mild caramel malts, grass, and mid-dry hops. Distant bittersweet end. Clean taste and easy to drink. (London, 11.02.2025).

Cask at The Hursts Arms, Eastbourne. Aroma was a bit off, like feet. Golden appearance. Very dry ending. Classic Harvey's bitter you could drink for hours. (23/10/2021) ---- Cask at The Hursts Arms, Eastbourne. Little to no aroma. Caramel colour. So easy going and a good cask bitterness to it. Exactly how a British best should be! 3.2 to 3.6. Cask handpull at Lord Nelson Brighton. Clear amber brown colour thin head. Not great condition. Some biscuit malt some gooseberry. Decent Harveys flavour. Some yeast. Some light biscuit malt. Some sour English hop finish. Fine.

Cask at the Lord Nelson, Brighton. This one elevates me to the illustrious #1 Harvey’s rater position! It pours clear dark amber with a medium white head. The nose is rich, toasty, very earthy, light brett and wood. The taste is bitter, woody, leather, earth, toasty grain, light toffee, cereal, light lemon zest and some spice with a dry, earth finish. Light body and soft carbonation. Mighty flavoursome for the abv. Tasty session gear.
