Based on our traditional stout, Cappuccio Stout takes the skill of the barista and adds milky coffee flavour – try topping with chocolate sprinkles!

Who needs coffee when we got this….
Black color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing. Nice intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a smooth carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Smooth and balanced coffee flavor. Also some vanilla and chocolate.

On cask at Travelers Arms, Apperknowle - Titanic was the winner this evening, following on from the Plum Porter down the road, this was superb. Deep black, thick lacing tan head - perfect. Nose is coffee, chocolate, vanilla - nice. Taste is smooth and creamy, nice dry end, with a decent sweetness to offset it.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol, October 2013. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Decent mix of coffee and chocolate, with a touch of roast and moderately bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. A glossy black pour with a tawny glow and a tight beige head; aroma of chocolate and coffee; soft and sweet, with a fairly thin body and a milky coffee taste; then a dry, biscuity, and pleasantly bitter finish.

Intense coffee, cream aroma. It’s quite thin so the flavour comes through more in the aftertaste. Typical roasted, malts, coffee. Lactic edge. Promises much but the balance is off. Needs to be richer and more oily.

Cask at Wetherspoons, Reading. Black with a thick yellowy-beige head. Sweet coffee syrup and roasted malt on the nose; fortunately on tasting there’s enough charred wood malt to offset the sweetness, although there is a certain residual stickiness around the list. I’ve had better coffee stouts, but this is not bad; the coffee is well balanced and doesn’t overwhelm what must be a pretty decent base stout.
