Cask at the Tyburn, JDW - London. Pours clear, deep brown with a lasting, creamy beige head. Lots of burnt coffee on the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with loads more burnt coffee, some burnt brown sugar, wood, earthy bitterness, acidic filter coffee, some cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Big roasted malt finish with bitter coffee, burnt wood, scorched earth, tobacco. Punchy but doesn’t fire on all cylinders.

Cask at the moon under water Watford jdw. Opaque dark caramel pour with a steadfast loose light tan. Aroma is really nice sweet kamp coffee cake, creme brulee. Flavour is a bit more of the acrid roast edge. Not as sweet as the aroma suggests. Some metallic, choc and roast. Condition isn’t great and a bit of hot alcohol.

Cask @ Bankers Draft, Bedford. This is a truly black beer. Opaque. Smells like... cappuccino (quelle surprise). But the aroma is not pleasant and smells almost artificial like a petrol station mini-mart cappuccino. Unbalanced taste: the bittersweet fades quickly to extreme bitter, like a too-strong instant coffee. Could be better but it isn’t.

Cask @ The Almond Bank, Livingston [121013]
Very dark brown, dense creamy tan head, good lacing
Aroma of roast coffee, sweet dark malts, espresso, chocolate mocha, getting some dark fruits
Taste of espresso coffee roast, good quality coffee, sweet dark roasted malts, some milky chocolate mocha, lot of coffee in this!
Palate - medium body, smooth texture, sweet dark malts, bitter coffee. Finish - some dark fruits come through and lingering bitter coffee roast
Overall - Coffee pretty strong in this - 1 maybe 2 pints will be enough of this. Liked it but probably be better if they tone down the coffee a tad

Cask handpull at Metropolitan Spoons Baket Street. Black beer lasting tan head. Coffee aroma. Quite thick and slightly artificial flavour in the mouth. Decent beer. Some milky coffee throughout. Aye good start to the festival. Coffee lingers on the finish.

Cask at Ye Olde Greene Manne, Batchworth Heath, Rickmansworth, Herts. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige/tan head on top. Nice coffee, chocolate aroma. Tastes rich, coffee, chocolate, malty, slightly sweet, smooth drinking. Very tasty indeed.

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours opaque black with a nice thick crema head. The nose has dark chocolate going into liquorice. The taste has definitely got the expected coffee bean and still some chocolate. The palate is medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly elegant finish. Overall, it’s a nice beer, though it’s so intensely coffee-ish that one is definitely enough.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS! Would have missed this is not for Essexcalf - thanks for the scoop Dan. Semi transparent dark brown beer, residual tan head. Smooth palate. Tangy dark chocolate, semi sweet. Dan said Tiramisu and that really struck home. This is a tiramisu stout! Not bad!
