Based on our traditional stout, Cappuccio Stout takes the skill of the barista and adds milky coffee flavour – try topping with chocolate sprinkles!

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crude oil black colour with a very thin tan head. The aroma is of malt and coffee. The flavour is medium bitter with bags of coffee, malt and fruit too. If I hadn’t tasted it myself, I would not have believed it was possible to brew a beer like this. I’m still not sure whether this belongs in a pub or Starbucks! Either way, I loved it and I’m surprised the rating here is so low.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/09/12. Very dark mahogony brown approaching black. Big cappuccino nose, roast malts, sweet sugars. The taste isn’t as full as the nose suggests, but has similar trates in terms of roasted malt, coffee and a little chocolate. Medium bodied with low carbonation leading to a dry finish. A little on the watery side.

18th September 2012: cask pint, hand-pulled in The Anchor, Birmingham. Dark brown body: looks a bit like a ’Cappuccino’ complete with a light tanned froth on top (no dusting of mocca, etc though). Smells a bit like a ’Cappucinno’, tastes like one too, or at least a Greek Frappé coffee. Luckily I like coffee, but the name gives away the flavours you are going to encounter and I really enjoyed my pint. Nice and certainly different to anything else I had during my pub-crawl around Brum that night.

Cask at the Bree Louise. It pours very, very dark brown, with a thin tan lace. The nose is smoke, liquorice, cherry, charcoal, cola and coffee. The taste is liquorice, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, charcoal, cola and smoke, with a dry, slightly burnt finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Flavoursome and well balanced. Nice work.

Cask, handpump at The Old Oak, Horsley Woodhouse, 15.03.12 in company of Dad, Pauline & Barry Pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma from this is simply marvellous, but you have to wonder whether it is coffee syrup, regardless it is superb. This is tangy and roasty, in fact it has quite a hard roastiness, it really is very nice but the aroma is the key for me with this beer. A10 A4 T7 P3 Ov11 3.5

Cask @ Gun Dog, Halifax. Almost black with a smooth off-white head. Has a nice coffee aroma with some chocolate involved and a pretty similar taste.
