Bottle, shared around a fire on Night 1 of BCTC 2010. Pours cloudy brown with a strong, beige head. Certainly has a strong, smokey aroma with some charred malts. Fairly sweet flavor dark malts, chocolate and peat. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes roasty and smokey, with caramel, charred wood and tobacco notes. Good beer.

Bottled. Hazy dark brownish amber colour, mediumsized brown foamy head that settles quite quickly. Aroma is chocolate, some bitterness, smoked wet wood, mild caramel and also liquorice and old coffee. Flavour is quite much the same with some slight peaty notes. Aftertaste is burnt wet wood as well as chocolate. As it warms up some mild nuttyness as well.

bottle at Fort Wayne tasting - Pours dark amber with a lingering tan head. It smells of roast malt and smoke. Flavor is roast malt with a hint of chocolate, then of course there’s the smoke and plenty of it. It blends well, providing ample flavor without overpowering the rest of the beer. The finish has lots of lingering smokiness. Excellent brew.
