Bottle. Red brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted, caramel, malt. Flavour is roasted, caramel, hop, malt, coffee. Full bodied nice beer.

Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours a reddish dark brown body under a small, dense, beige head. Molasses, some burnt notes and dried fruits, and a tiny touch of smoke. Quite mellow. Dry on the palate with chocolate and coffee doing most of the job. Full-bodied. A pleasant one, sure needing a re-rate. Easy to drink and very tasty. (081229)

750mL cork and wire at Spuyten Duyvil poured into a large wine glass. Color is very black with a thick tan head that fades to a surface covering lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet smoke, pretty apparent, and cocoa with fume-y tar-like tobacco. Nothing overpowering on the nose, all melding very well, comes off as very rich. Taste has enough smoke as well with light bittersweet chocolate. Overall an easy drinking smoked stout with a velvety mouthfeel. I am actually surprised the peat came off like rauch, weird.

Courtesy of argo0, thanks Aaron for taking time out of your vacation to share some brew with us. Pours deep murky dark brown with tan head. The light aroma holds up some smoke, some roastiness and a bit of fruity ester goodness. The taste is full and, yes, tasty with rich roasty malts that move toward being highly roasted and coupled with a molasses note. Midway the roastiness becomes drying as the mild smokiness makes an appearance. Toward the finish the lingering mild notes of molasses fade away leaving malt roastiness into the after taste.

Pours mahogany into a Trappist glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to skim surface. Smoke aromas. Sharp and smoky with a dusty smoked bitter chocolate finish.

Dark ruby, with a frothy, lasting lace - the aroma does not reveal much, just some lactose sweetness, some chocolate character, and the fainest bit of roastiness - I couldn’t pick up any apparent smoke in the nose or the flavor - fairly creamy in the mouth, with a touch of vanilla and some blueberry-like flavor, chocolate, plum - most of these characteristics only show up as it warms, but so does some spicy alcohol warmth - a decent stout, but not worth the price.

Sehr malzig-frischer Antrunk, eher mild. Süßlich, die Malzigkeit ist füllend aber nicht sehr aromatisch. Röstig-süß, im Abgang zum ersten Mal stark rauchig. Hier zudem würzig-aromatisch. Nettes Bier! On tap @ Arendsnest. Dark reddish black colour, beige head. Aroma of smoke, roasted/burnt malts and tar, caramel and dark fruits. Taste is tar, smoke, raisins, chocolate. Dry bitter finish. Oily palate. Very good!

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Myrup. Hazy reddish brown with a lively, bubbly beige head. Distinct aroma of hard roasted malt, smoke and tar. Medium body with a very lively carbonation, solid burned malts, fruit and again - smoke and tar. Dry finish without any greater bitterness. Fine one. 140608

Bottled(750ml). -from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam.
Dark brown coloured, medium sized pale brown head, light chocolate fruity nose. Lots of sediment floating in the bottle and glass. Moderat sweet and light roasted malt, bitter coffee and chocolate taste with notes of smoke yeast and alcohol. Simple and very nice brew.
