Hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish white head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of grass, pungent grapefruit, oranges and a heavy dose of vanilla and lactose with a good deal of pungent and astringent alcohol around the edges. Medium-bodied; Strong astringent grain and malt flavours dominate at first with a deep and medicinal hop and alcohol bite soon afterwards with a dash of citrus and grapefruit with some dry herbs on the finish as well, but all hop elements and a lot of bitterness throughout. Aftertaste shows the pungent hop vibes, a good deal of alcohol and pungency, but all balanced quite well with the malt and punch of an Imperial IPA, but showing a bit lighter like a lager towards the end. Overall, a nice beer that shows a solid hop profile, but a dry and herbal grassy malt backbone which is well balanced, but strong flavoured.Nice to sample and worth trying if you prefer Imperial IPAs over traditional ones. I sampled this pint-sized, 500 mL bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 05-April-2019 for US$4,99 sampled at home in Washington on 06-May-2019.
