16 June 2020. At Dok Brewing Company. Cheers to the Teamleader colleagues! Pours hazy orange with a lasting, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of ripe tangerine, melon, pineapple, apricot, yeast, white bread, wheat. Taste has sweetish tangerine, mango & apricot, bitter mandarin peel & pink grapefruit, yeasty with a bready malty back, edge of sour wheat. Dryish, floral hoppy finish, zesty sour still, grapefruit peel & mango providing lots of juicy bitterness, soft alcohol glow in the throat. Medium body, slick-creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Not entirely my style but this is very well executed!

New Dok brew released last week during the coronacrisis lockdown - sold at the premises in tap-filled 75 cl bottles, the growler principle, in other words. Shared with Goedele. Beaten egg-like, plastery lacing, very frothy, yellowish white, sticky but slowly breaking head on a cloudy orange-hued peach blonde beer. Luscious aroma of fresh oranges, tangerine, lime peel, bitter honey, white bread pulp, whitecurrant, ripe apricot, gin, yellow grapefruit, green melons, tulips, white pepper, tonic water. Fruity, colourful onset, estery but also lots of fruitiness from the hops, sweetish with impressions of melon, green mango and apricot, light sourish edge, medium carb, full but soft mouthfeel. Bready malt backbone with lightly soapy-sourish wheat presence, drenched in very colourful, citric hoppiness hinting at pink grapefruit, tangerine and lime flesh - but also providing a long, rooty, eventually even tonic water-like bitterness, highlighted by a glow of gin-like alcohol. Lots of grapefruit zestiness lingers for a long time. Beautiful beer, one of Dok's best even for me (so far), colourful, streamlined, rich and refreshing in spite of its strength. Almost a West Coast IPA with wheat haziness - double white IPA indeed.
