Pours a muted golden/orange color with a thin light beige head atop. Spotty lacing through the whole glass. Banana and wheat aromas are present, along with a bit of citrus. Light body with a light yeast character. Banana and spice flavors show up here and there as well, but not with much authority. The finish is fruity and yeasty with a touch of hops lingering. Slightly above average all around.

I have been rather fond of this brewer of late so I jumped at the opportunity to try another one of their beers. Sampled on draft at Rivertowne Inn in North Huntingdon PA this beer poured a medium golden color with a trace of a white head. The aroma is lightly sweet and tangy with a bit of alcohol. The mouthfeel is moderately thick. The flavor is vague sweet and tangy malts with a bit of a bready undertone and a tangy finish. Fairly bland.

Bottle. Amber color with a nice white head. Crisp yeasty aroma with some earthy spice. Nice balance. Flavor has a lot going on - fruity (peach), some grain, some earthiness, some herbal tones - a lot of saison-like qualities. Only problem is, the beer gets tiring. Small sample would score better.

2005 bottle from Julios consumed 6/22/2005. Pours a clear, filtered, marigold-butter orange/yellow. Sparkling carbonation, quite light overall but does manage a large white head consisting of medium-sized bubbles. Fully collapsing, it twiddles away to a ring eventually, with no lacing. Aroma has notes of light orange fruits (nectarines, pears, tangerines), some light Belgian yeast (Westmalle it seems). Light citrus notes in addition to the other fruits, a touch of honey and then some corn or cream, not really a bad thing. Flavor is moderately sweet, quite hoppy, though it is more spicy than truly bitter. Finishes with light honey, bits of dough and white sugar, more fruits and yeast. Palate is rather loose, and the forced carbonation leaves quickly, giving the body a watery feel on the end, and being filtered, the beer looses a lot of mouthfeel. Corn flavors, not in a bad way, just lots of pils malt byproduct, I guess. Reminds me of a simpler, filtered Unibroue 1837 mixed with a little bit of Griffon Blonde. Like usual, filtration really kills the spirit. Though I guess if you just look at this as a summer session refresher, it passes pretty readily.

Bottle pours a bright clear pale golden yellow with a huge fluffy white head. Very densr and persistant. Aroma is mainly that distinct belgian spice and yeast with some mile light grain notes. Flavors are more of the same. PLenty of pale slightly sweet maltiness and an up front Belgian flavor. Fairly thin, light and a bit dry. Quite soft.

Thanks to Eyedrinkale for this trade! Pours with a huge frothy white head over a medium yellow, hazy brew. Very light malt and hop aroma. Lightly sweet flavor, but overall this lacks the complexity needed to fill it out. Light somewhat watery finish.

A dark orange beer with a lasting white head. The aroma is grassy, hoppy, and fruity. The flavor is sweet, dry, hoppy, and grassy.

#10. Slightly yeasty citrus nose. Hazy yellow, small bubbles, nice lacing creamy head. Wheaty/grainy base, saison yeast. Solid body, sparkly mouthfeel. Yeasty aftertaste. Nice summer brew I would say, but far from fantasticly great.

[draught] I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what style this sucker was when I tried it - it’s unique indeed - the best way to describe the flavor would be some kind of pumped-up combination of a saison, american wheat and belgian strong ale - quite thick for any of these styles, but good - grainy, with hints of light fruits (grapes, skins and all) - citrus, cloves - quite good, but a little too heavy in comparison to the light flavors it offers.

Clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast and bananas. Medium to Light-bodied; Decent sweet bananey flavour with strong wheat characteristics. Aftertaste shows some of the wheat and subtle spicey character. Overall, a different-albeit strong summer beer! Definately worth trying....I really enjoyed it! I owe a great big deal of thanks to Phil (Haddon90) for bringing this 65 cL bottle back all the way from California for me to sample on my visit to Knoxville on 27-September-2003.
